Murray Canyon

Meet at the Boat Launch

Our tour typically starts at 10 am ( a 2 pm start time is available ) from the Tumbler Ridge Regional Boat Launch on Highway 29 - the highway between Tumbler Ridge and Chetwynd - just outside of town.

Downstream Journey

We travel downstream on the Murray River for approximately 50 km, stopping occasionally at some local viewpoints. It takes less than an hour to reach the end of the Murray Canyon. There are a couple of waterfalls we will stop for along the journey.

The Hike

On this tour, you can take an additional hike to Bergeron Falls or the Anvil (more information below).

The Meal

Our lunch is served onshore at the base of the trailhead for your chosen hike. It consists of barbecued beef tenderloin on a bun with all the fixings. Snacks and water are provided, but you are welcome to bring your own. We spend about an hour here, giving guests a chance to visit, stretch, and explore the beach. (Please let us know if you have any dietary requirements.)

Downstream Journey

From our lunch spot, we travel back upstream to the boat launch. The river current works against us on the return journey making it a bit longer. It will take us roughly an hour to return.

General Trip Itinerary   ~ 4 hours

Please note that if you are choosing this tour as an add-on to our Kinuseo Falls tour, the hike and meal in the canyon will not be included.

Bergeron Falls

When hiking from the river, the Bergeron Falls trail goes from a challenging 12 km hike to a 4 km hike. It takes you on a scenic route along Bergeron creek until you reach the falls. The waterfall is quite tall, one of the tallest in Northern BC at over 100m tall. Sometimes mountain goats can be spotted on the steep sandstone cliffs.

The Anvil

Named such because of its colour and protuding shape, the hike to the Anvil is only accessible from the river. The hike takes you up a steep hill and through an old sandstone sinkhole formed by glaciers a millenia ago. The rest of the hike is flat and takes you past many similar sinkhole formations before reaching the cliff of the Anvil where we can stop for pictures and the view it provides

No two tours are exactly the same, because no guests are exactly the same, and we like it that way. If there is something you really want to do and don't see it on our itinerary, let us know! We always try to accommodate our guest's needs and wants.
